The West Valley has some really great parks and Heroes Regional is no exception. It’s about 5 minutes east of Westgate, making it a convenient stop before or after you’ve hit the shops and restaurants there. Or maybe you are lucky enough to live in the area.

This park's got a great mix of unique features alongside the key things you would hope for at a park. For younger children there are multiple playgrounds, a Storywalk, a lake with ducks, and, during the summer, a splash pad. Older kids will enjoy the basketball courts. Teens can take advantage of the serious skate park and may also have fun with the sand volleyball courts.

There are walkways that meander, connecting all the different zones. From the south side of the park you can access the Grand Canal walking and biking path. On the north side, making a loop around the big soccer field area, is a ½ mile loop. (There are official distance markers etched into the sidewalk.) Another nice walk is around the lake is where a Storywalk is set up. The first storyboard starts right behind the library, goes counter clockwise, and has a story geared towards 5-10 year olds.

Unique features of this park include the library, the newest of Glendale’s 4 libraries, an archery range, a special needs playground, and pickleball courts. But it also has mainstream things that any family would appreciate like nice ramadas with grills and sinks, dog parks, bathrooms, multiple parking lots, and plenty of open space with grass for playing and picnicking. This park is 62 acres plus it connects to Discovery Park, so there’s plenty of room to stretch your legs, play, and explore.
